Castle & beach
Platamonas castle and beach
A short drive north, Platamonas combines a medieval castle on a hill with organised beaches and a lively seafront.
The castle
Built in the early 13th century, the castle guards the entrance to the Tempi valley between Olympus and Ossa. Its walls and keep offer wide views of the coast, and in summer it hosts concerts and theatre.
The town
Below the castle you will find sandy beaches, cafés, tavernas and shops, a good contrast to the quiet of Stomio for an evening out.
