Our village
Stomio, between the mountain and the sea
Stomio is a quiet seaside village on the east coast of Greece, at the foot of Mount Kissavos (Ossa), built on the site of the ancient city of Evrymenes.
Beach, mountain and forest
Its long golden beach looks out over the Aegean, with the green, forested slopes of Kissavos rising right behind it. Fishing boats, a few tavernas and calm streets give it a relaxed, local feel.
When to visit
From April to mid-May and from mid-September to the end of October the air is around 26–30 °C and the sea 22–25 °C, with almost empty beaches. In summer the sea reaches 26–28 °C and the village stays calm on weekdays. In winter temperatures on the coast are mild and snow often covers the mountain.
Things to do nearby
Walk the beach at sunset, hike or cycle on Kissavos, visit the Monastery of St Demetrios for a Sunday service and a Greek coffee in its courtyard, or swim under the waterfall of the Kalypso gorge.
